One of the main reasons that we moved to Bristol almost four years ago was to be closer to my sisters. Our aunt and uncle took them in as their own when our mum died and I missed most of their years of growing up. While I tend to see my sisters separately at least every couple of weeks, life is busy for everyone and it’s getting more and more difficult to meet up together. So when Brewers Fayre asked if I would like to go to review their new menu, I thought it would be a good chance for the three of us to meet up.
A couple of weeks ago we went to Llangdoger Trow in Bristol for a bite to eat and to swap news on a Friday lunch time. I actually felt guilty for seeing them without the men or children but I must admit it was really nice! The menu itself is fantastic value. The Daytime Value offer runs from 12 – 6pm Monday to Friday and means guests can enjoy two starters for £2.50, two mains for just £10.99* and two desserts for £2.50.
Hannah had the Ultimate Sausage and Mash (inside a Yorkshire pudding!), Alice had the Smothered Chicken and I went for the Chicken Tikka Masala.
Despite our meals being on the Daytime Menu offer, they were full sized portions and in fact Hannah struggled to finish hers! As we met on her lunch break she had to rush off back to work while Alice and I tucked into deserts.
We received excellent service. When I went up to the bar to order, a member of staff offered to carry the drinks for me as I had a walking stick and also brought cutlery over to us.
All in all we found Brewers Fayre to be excellent value for money and somewhere we will definitely consider going to again although I am not sure if I would visit Llangdoger Trow itself again to be honest. We saw that most of the restaurant looked very dark and in need of a face lift but that said, I understand that a lot of Brewers Fayre sites are being updated, or have refurbishments planned. If Llangdoger Trow is one of them then we definitely would go back there.
I was given credit for Brewers Fayre in exchange for a review. As always, all words, pictures and opinions are my own.
