We are halfway through the summer holidays and it seems like summer has yet to make an appearance. I really hope it does soon! I’ve put this Little Loves post together then realised that Morgana isn’t running the linky for a month! Whoops.
If you read my post about our marriage separation, then you will know the husband and I are currently having counselling. During our very first session, our counsellor said that research has proven that men tend to seek respect from their wives, whereas women need to be loved. When men feel that they are being respected by their wives, they feel love. When women feel loved by their husbands, they feel respected. Last week I had a session by myself and she recommended me this book, which I ordered immediately.
It is safe to say when I shared this image on my Facebook, there was a mixed reaction. That said, it is a Christian book, based on a particular verse in the Bible. In Ephesians 5:33, John commands “However, each one of you must also love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” and this verse (and a couple of others) is what forms the basis of the book. One thing that has really stuck out for me so far is basically communication. Eggerichs gives the analogy that men wear blue glasses and hearing aids and women wear pink. We all see and hear the exact same things, we just interpret them differently. I’m only a couple of chapters in but if you are a Christian, I definitely recommend it.
The husband and I have just started watching Shooter on Netflix. It’s a gripping series about a former marine being employed to protect the President of the USA but then he is framed for the assassination. Take a look at the trailer. We’re only a couple of episodes in but we are gripped. I’m actually slightly annoyed that we’ve found something to watch together because I want to watch it all now!
I have started to let Cheeky Chap help me with the meal planning. He gets to choose one meal a week, although he does get a say most days. He goes through periods when he would happily eat the same thing every day. At the moment it is chicken and broccoli pasta bake. So I’ve made that a couple of times this last week.
I recently got sent some lovely new clothes from JD Williams but the lack of summer weather hasn’t really given me the chance to wear them!
The linen mix skirt is lovely and cool with pockets and the top can be dressed up just as easily as worn casually. The Hotter shoes are quite simply the most comfortable summer shoes I have ever worn.
I have also been wearing this gorgeous perfume sent to me by Accessorize. I don’t know about you but I never buy fragrance for myself so it was lovely to be sent one to try. The raspberry, jasmine, orange and sweet vanilla notes make Accessorize Lovelily a gorgeous feminine combination that’s great for daily wear. At just £10 for the gift set, it is an absolute bargain at the moment.
My sister and her fiancé have settled on their first dance song for their wedding in May. I’ve been playing it quite a lot since she told me as I think it’s simply beautiful and likely to be something I would have picked myself if I was getting married now.
If you follow me on social media you will know that five months after our separation, the husband has moved back home. I have to confess, in some ways it doesn’t feel all that different. He works anything from 10 to 14 hours a day with a 40 minute commute so he hasn’t been home a great deal. But even so, in other ways it feels slightly strange. Especially when he fell asleep before me the other night and I was reminded of his snoring.
